I’ve struggled to write a post so far in 2010...

...maybe I’ve got bloggers block?

Perhaps I just need to upload one "post"..

Awesome track and possibly my favourite cover of all time ... hats off to Depeche Mode and Johnny Cash... I'm so glad it sneaked into the 10.

9: Lego: Matrix - Trinity Help

Lego had to get in there somehow.. after all its the retro story of 2009. This is my favourite, slo mo animation + Lego + The Matrix = The  Whole Enchilada

7: Tactical Advertising: BMI & BA

In Mid -December BA announced their planned Christmas Strike, BMI ran this ad in the Evening Standard the following day... brilliant stuff!

5: Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban: 2010 FIFA World Cup Venue

Pretty awesome shot of the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The stadium will host a total of seven FIFA World Cup 2010 football matches including Germany v Australia, Spain v Switzerland, Holland v Japan, Nigeria v Korea Republic, Brazil v Portugal, A round two game and the semi final.

Wicked Suzuki Bike Assembly by Noah and Friends

Hats off to these guys ... usually I save random vids for my posterous site.

But this self assembling Suzuki GSXR stop start animation is truly special, and Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer is a great choice for the backing track .. brilliant!!

Part of me does wonder whether Suzuki were behind it though... fair play if they were!

Forsman & Bodenfors Innovative Facebook Campaign for IKEA Store Launch

Some really smart creative thinking from Forsman & Bodenfors, IKEA's Swedish agency.

They created a profile page for Gordon Gustavsson, the store manager of their brand new Malmo store, and then uploaded pictures of the store's new showrooms. Any friends who tagged a particular product with their name actually won the item.

And the campaign is rather nicely summarised in the video below.

All in all a rather clever innovative low budget campaign that drives conversation and sharability through Facebook's tagging feature - nice!

When Consumers Become Producers: Four Quentin Tarantino Video Mixes

Previously most media that was available for public consumption was produced by professionals, in special rooms with special hi tech equipment.

The interesting change over the last decade is that mass technology has allowed the former consumers to become the producers.

Of course while not everybody has the talent of Quentin Tarantino and the ability to generate original stylised movies,

Everybody does now have access to the library of content that he's generated.

The Economist: Did You Know (Shift Happens) 4.0

The Economist and XPLANE have released an update to the Did You Know? Shift Happens series, for The Media Convergence Forum (New York) in October.

They’ve done a fantastic job, it’s as entertaining and insightful as previous versions & its great to see “Did You Know (Shift Happens)” evolve over time.

While I'm posting about The Economist, I just quickly want to hat tip the Economist team at AMV BBDO. They presented their IAB award winning work for Thinking Space at last weeks IAB creative showcase & I was pretty impressed.

Seems that The Economist is on a roll!

Daft Punk in DJ Hero - Brilliant Idea !!!

Whoever at Activision came up with the idea of putting Daft Punk in DJ Hero deserves a big pat on the back!

The teaser trailer video is seeded on YouTube and pretty much everywhere (drop me a line if you seeded it and I'll give you the credit!), and screen shots are up on the DJ Hero Facebook fan pages.

I don't own a gaming console - but this is the type of game that makes me think twice about buying one.

T-Mobile: Sing (Life's for Sharing @ Trafalgar Square)

As a cycling fan, I've previously associated T-Mobile (Team Telekom) and Deutsche Telekom with their pink flouro "wind assisted" cycling team.

The hideous pink flouro remains, but instead of the cycling - I'll now think Pink and Life’s for Sharing. The discredited cycling team having been firmly replaced by T-Mobile's collaborative advertising campaign.

Back in January, I blogged about T-Mobile's flash mob at Liverpool street station and this week I felt obliged to follow its second stage at Trafalgar Square.

On Monday 27th April, T-Mobile posted a video on YouTube summoning people to Trafalgar Square at 6pm on Thursday 30th. Twitter, flyers and e-mails harnessing the power of the internet and ensuring that within hours the message was viral, spreading almost as fast as the UK's panic about #swineflu.

Using techniques made famous by Bill Wasik's pioneering flash mobs, T-Mobile took the flash mob concept one stage further, and hosted their own "flash event", a mass karaoke singalong.

Thousands gathered at Trafalgar Square (#Trafalgar) as T-Mobile filmed part two of the 'Life's For Sharing' ad campaign. Created and co-ordinated by Saatchi & Saatchi, participants were armed with toy microphones, energised by Vernon Kaye, assisted by a sound system and enhanced by Pink. T-Mobile hosted an amazing giant karaoke - right in the heart of London.

The demands of recruiting and filming a TV ad made it difficult to retain the charm and edginess of an original flash mob; however Saatchi’s & T-Mobile imitated & amplified the original technique and collaborative effect on a grand televised scale.

The public's desire to appear on the small screen remains powerful as ever, despite the ease at which anybody can appear on YouTube. Bloggers like Nick have kept the idea going, as have the traditional media whilst Saatchi's production department get down to work to deliver an ad within 48 hours.

Massive hat tip to Saatchi & Saatchi, it’s a great campaign, and the organisation was brilliant.... all with minimal presence from London’s boys in blue.

T-Mobile at Trafalgar Square (Thurs 30th April at 6pm)

Interesting to hear that T-Mobile are filming another flash mob tomorrow night, this time at Trafalgar Square. I blogged about the first T-mobile "life's for sharing" flash mob back in January.

The Trafalgar Square event is currently being Tweeted about here or here (if the #Trafalgar hash tag takes off) 

After their previous success, I'm curious to see how T-Mobile and Saatchi & Saatchi will handle the larger crowd numbers and expectation that the word of mouth (partially aided by all those extra twitter users) will no doubt generate.

Mini Clubman Viral: It's A Fake

Thanks to Simon Veksner’s blog I caught the Mini Clubman “viral” that I’d missed last week.

In which a Mini clubman performs gravity-defying stunts, communicates the driving agility of the Mini Clubman and showcases the car rather well.

All in all a rather charming, entertaining, & light-hearted poke at “virals.”

Unsure of the agency, so if it was you - please wave!

Kutiman Mixes YouTube: Amazing Mash Up

As soon as I saw this, I just knew that I had to blog about it, it's a great example of what "ProAms" can achieve with the right tool.

Kutiman is a 26 year old from Isreal and thats about all I know ... and that he's very talented!

It's so good it leaves me speechless..
